Tampa (FNP) – This afternoon at noon in from of the Sam Gibbons Federal courthouse there were a couple of hundred protesters. But this wasn’t the normal group of protesters call for the release of some criminal or trying to get a glimpse of some celebrity. This was a group of people that wanted to something many Americans are feeling that has stopped happening.  They want to have their voices heard.

It was a constant them amongst the protester, that their voices were not being hard by lawmakers.  They are for the most part feeling they are no longer a part of the American dream.  The people that were protesting were tired of bailouts and ever-increasing social programs.  They were afraid of out of control government spending.

This was a day for them to get their voices heard.  This was a day for them to show how much they love their country. Today those protesters wanted to send a message to all that would listen, they are sick of the lies, half-truths and double speak from the elected officials.  For these protesters this was only the first of many protests

Tampa (FNP) Mayor Pam Iorio of Tampa is scheduled to meet with Governor Charlie Crist to present her pitch for what os being call a “Tampa-centric” light rail plan.  Of course this plan will require state funding.

The mayor will be joined by former Governor, Bob Martinez, Hillsborough County Commisioner Mark Sharp. Although it is being kept a secret why Tampa based lobyist Martinez is attending this meeting. Iorio has however stated thatshe would like to bring this issue before the voters in 2010.

She plans to ask for a 1 cent increase in the sales tax to fund this project.  It is also understood the addtional funding would have to come from federal and state wallets.  Iorio says that the first leg of the prooject could be completed in 5 or 6 years if voter apporove the tax increase.

The mayor is depending  on public support from those citizens that have come from cities that have light rail systems to push this through. She is also hoping that the price of fuel will encourage people to park their cars and hop the rails.

The plan will face stiff opposition from a tax weary public though. It will a very long time for this train system links to others in surrounding counties thus many people we not be able to see the need or the expense.  The voters recently repealed a “bullet train” admentment from the Florida constitution.

Putnam Will Not Run For the U.S. House in 2010

The once powerful Adam Putnam has decided he will not seek re-election in the US House in 2010.  Instead he will seek the Florida Agriculture Commissioner.  Putnam’s family have been farmers for five generations and he says it in his blood as well.

Putnam, 34, was the third-most-powerful Republican in the House until he decided in November not to seek another term as chair of the House Republican Conference. Before Republicans lost control of the House in 2006, Putnam was the fifth-most-powerful Republican member while serving as chairman of the Republican Policy Committee.  His exit follows huge losses during the November elections for the GOP. Under the Obama administration, it will be the first time in 15 years that Democrats have control of both the Congress and the White House.

“You know I am a Floridian first, and excited about the opportunity to get back toFlorida and focus on these issues full-time and really go back to my first love,” Putnam said. “I will not miss climbing on an airplane two times a week and leaving my family to go beat my head up against a brick wall,” Putnam told us from his new campaign office in Bartow.  It’s just doors away from his Congressional office.

Mayor Pam Wants to Privatize

Tampa (FNP) – Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio sure doesn’t seem like the regular rank and file democrat. Despite the fact she supported Barrack Obama for president and every other democrat contender for every elected office Pam Iorio is showing something that some republicans seem to have lost in recent years, a spine!  In hard economic times Mayor Iorio is willing to make the hard choices.

It seems the Mayor is ready to cut 100 city jobs.  That in itself is not so special.  It is special in the way Mayor Iorio wants to handle the problem.  She wants to privatize those jobs!  Thats right a democrat mayor is going up against a union and sending job to the private sector!  Hard to believe that the federal goverment is growing in leaps and bounds while the mayor is making her government smaller! President Obama look down here!

The sad part is that the city council has a typical bipartisan cowardance that is happy growing government.  Some council members are not impressed with the 3.4 million dollar savings that the city of Tampa will reap.  They are more concerned with lost union revenues.  Mayor Iorio seems to be concerned about the fiscal health of Tampa as well promoting private industry.  Council members John Dingfelder and Linda Saul-Sena were seen glad handing with members of of the union as they chanted “No Justice, No Peace!”

Some Floridians Waiting on Obama Prize

Tampa- (FNP) Now that President Obama has taken control of the White House people around the world are waiting for their “Obama Prize”. An “Obama Prize” is a reward for support that Obama-maniacs are looking forward to. Many of our world citizens are looking forward to more financial aid from Mr. Obama.

Here in the United States many of the special interests group all are looking forward to their Obama Prize. For some of them it will be in the form of outrageous environmental regulations that will make it impossible for The United States to become energy independent anytime time soon. Other groups are hell-bent to control us through our diets by insisting that methane from beef will kill us all if something isn’t done right away.

In Florida it is the “no-drillers” that are looking for their Obama Prize in the form of an off-shore drilling ban that will drive oil prices through the roof and crush the average family. These people don’t really care about the health and welfare of their fellow citizens. They are living in some alternate universe that reverting back to life in caves is seen as healthy. They hate America so much they are looking forward to the day that America is a third world nation. They are here in Florida waiting on their Obama Prize.

U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor is waiting for her Obama Prize in the form of another housing bailout. She feels that Florida is owed something due to its “swing state” role this past election cycle. Mrs. Castor is clearly looking for some “pay-back” from Mr. Obama. It seems Blagojevichian in a creepy pay to play way.

Some people are trying to make the United States a third world country by opening its borders to anyone that can make it our shores by boat, rafts or igloo cooler. You see, they want everyone to enjoy the American Dream while taking it away from us. Hillary Clinton is ready to make Florida the gateway from Haiti to the “new world”, pretty much ignoring the pressure that would put on the infrastructure of Florida.

And unlike many other states and cities Florida is waiting for Mr. Obama to take the “Oaf” of office to see how much of an Obama Prize they are going to get. The Florida lawmakers want Governor Crist to wait before making cuts. They are making sure that the new President is going to deliver enough to maintain the level of irresponsibility that has been going on in state spending.

Now That the Numbers Are In

Tampa-(FNP) Now that the final numbers are in it is easy to look at the performance of the RNC in “the hood”. All of the candidates for RNC chair were asked the same thing, “What can be done to reach out to minority voters?” It is apparent that the RNC did not have a plan for this in the past election cycle and none of the candidates seemed to have a clear thought out plan for any time soon.

A perfect example of the ineffectiveness of the RNC here in Florida can be seen in precinct 339 of Hillsborough county. This precinct has a racial mix of roughly 75% African American. This is a lower middle class area that traditionally votes Democrat. However there was one race that stands as a tremendous failure for Republicans.

Eddie Adams Jr., the African American lost to Kathy Castor a white woman. One would think in the excitement of Obamamania it would easy for an African-American running in a precinct 75% to get elected. After all Mr. Obama won 75% of the vote or nearly all of the African-American vote. But Mr. Adams lost to Mrs. Castor.

Mr. Adams lost the election for U.S. Congress 80% – 20% in a precinct 75% percent African-American! Why? Because the RNC of Hillsborough County was so out of touch. The HCRNC could not somehow get Mr. Adams enough support in his own community. A colossal failure in my opinion.

Republican candidates did win in precinct 339 but only win running against someone with no party affiliation.
